This weekend Springer Publishing Company is visiting the beautiful city of Seattle for the 42nd Annual NONPF Conference, which takes place from April 13th through April 17th.

This year the conference is being held at the Westin Seattle, located at 1900 Fifth  Avenue. Spanning two rounded towers, this pristine hotel is just a half-mile walk from Pike Place Market and less than one mile from the Space Needle. To make the most of your stay, use your downtime to check out these cool places:

1.    The Ballard Locks- The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, also known as the Ballard Locks, is a complex of locks located at the west end of Salmon Bay. It is also the United States' busiest with nearly 50,000 vessels passing through annually. The Locks are a Seattle Icon and National Historic Site, attracting more than 1 million visitors every year. This tourist attraction is free for visitors and guided tours.

2.    The Fremont Troll- The Troll is a mixed media colossal statue of a troll clutching an actual Volkswagen Beetle. This fun and quirky work of public art can be found at N. 36 St. at Troll Ave. N., just under the north end of the George Washington Memorial Bridge.

3.    Space Needle- Located less than one mile from the Westin hotel, is the exemplary Space Needle. Featuring an observation deck and the SkyCity Restaurant, this 605 foot tall tower is a landmark of the Pacific Northwest, and an icon of Seattle. Tickets can be purchased here.

4.    Pike Place Market- The Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliot Bay waterfront. The Market opened in 1907 and is one of the oldest public farmers’ markets in the United States. The market is home to a variety of unique shops, antique dealers, family-owned restaurants, fishmongers and even arcades.

5.   Waterfront Park- Waterfront Park is a public park on the Central Waterfront, in Downtown, Seattle.  The park was constructed on the site of the former Schwabacher Wharf. You can enjoy spectacular views of the city skyline, waterfront, ships in the drydock, and on a clear day a view of the Olympic Mountains.
