Special Issue: Technology and Consumer Finance

Synopsis and Subject Coverage

In recent years, technology advancement, especially the rapid advance of information and communications technology, has significantly changed market conditions, introduced new challenges to regulations, and resulted in shifts in consumer demands and behaviors. In particular, digital innovation is not only applied on payment applications, lending, and money transfers, the industry’s reach has extended into a wide swath of financial services, including retail, wealth management, small- and midsize enterprises (SMEs), corporate and investment banking, and insurance (McKinsey & Company, Fintech, 2017). Numerous financial innovations have appeared based on the advancements related to information technology that makes household financial decisions more challenging. Therefore, it becomes increasingly important for households to understand industry trends and secure their financial well-being in this age of information technology. We would like to invite researchers to submit original research papers to this special issue. We are looking for a wide range of contributions, including new theoretical insights, new methods of data collection and analysis, and insightful policy implications. Prospective topics in this special issue should be related to technology and consumer finance. The following are suggested, but NOT limited, topics:

Submissions presented at the Twelfth Biennial Conference of Asian Consumer and Family Economics Association (ACFEA) at Fuzhou University, Fujian Province, China, July 11-14, 2018, are preferred.

Submission Procedure

Contributors should submit their manuscripts July 31~Dec. 1, 2018. Final decisions on all submissions will be made by June 1, 2019.
