Job Opening: New Business Development Intern

Job purpose:

New Business Development intern responsible for supporting the efforts of identifying and developing partnerships around print and digital Springer Publishing products, across new and existing sales channels. This role reports to the Director, Licensing and New Business Development and will collaborate with production, marketing, and various internal sales teams to execute on the expansion of existing business and development of new partnerships. Supports Business Development and Sales as needed, including additional ad hoc responsibilities.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Generate leads and prospect lists and provide support in ensuring updated and accurate target lists are used for each campaign and communication effort
  • Generate product lists and content maps that align with specific partnership opportunities
  • Support ongoing database management and efforts to improve knowledge management through regular updates of contact records
  • Research industry conferences and coordinate outreach to attendees and exhibitors as needed
  • Assist business development in sales by generating leads, prospecting pertinent information on potential clients, and giving important insight on how to optimize our system and lead generation processes
  • Utilize web-based promotional system to create new email campaign copy and designs and using existing templates to assist with multi touch campaigns upselling brand and content licensing, app sponsorships, app sales, special promotions and packages with various sales channels
  • Work with Director of New Business Development on analyzing and recording information on our clientele base as well as identifying trends and potential issues
  • Additional tasks may include developing preparatory materials prior to meetings; supporting event planning and execution; and drafting communications.
  • Implementation and execution of projects and campaigns
  • Monitor delivery of scheduled emails and ensure all projects are completed on time
  • Ensure updated and accurate target lists are used for each communication effort



  • Strong business writing skills; ability to analyze, synthesize, and clearly present information
  • Knowledge on how to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Salesforce.com and overall Microsoft 365, including Teams is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once, meet deadlines, and effective time management


Physical requirements:

This position requires three days a week in our NYC office.
