Job Opening: Human Resource Director – PT 3 days per week in Princeton, NJ office

Job Purpose
Developing corporate plans for a variety of HR matters such as compensation, benefits, health and safety; acting to support the human factor in the company by devising strategies for performance evaluation, staffing, orientation, training and development and overseeing all HR initiatives, systems and tactics. While strategic and being a part of the leadership team, coaching senior level management to be successful in this role one must be a true generalist and able to roll up the sleeves and handle HR tactics as well.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues.
- Develops and implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, performance and talent development, employment processing, benefits and compensation.
- Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, guiding performance management and counseling staff.
- Develops human resources operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements.
- Leads and manages benefit negotiations including Company vs Employee costs analysis, communications and open enrollment processes. Works closely with broker, advisors and conducts own market research to ensure we are apprised of changes that may be needed to be compliant and competitive.
- Manages and updates compensation range data with market analysis, competitive analysis and internal equity reviews
- Leads and manages performance management activities including Key Performance Objectives, Development Objectives, ongoing coaching, and review processes including management of the tools and resources in ADP. Works with managers on all Performance Management directly to guide and provide expertise.
- Works with leaders across the organization to ensure employee engagement particularly with the remote nature of our employees with various initiatives.
- Manages the ADP HR, benefits and payroll portal updating the tools, information and resources as needed; works closely with Accounting Manager on her role as HRIS administrator to ensure accurate data entry; payroll, benefit and OE administration.
- Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities.
- Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions.
- Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in webinars, staying abreast on market and competition and utilizes learning to make recommendations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience 7-10 years HR Manager/Director/Business Partner preferably in a publishing industry
- Full understanding of the way an organization operates to meet its objectives
- Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
- Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
- A business acumen and able to partner with managers and leaders to help ensure the right people are engaged and performing optimally for organization success
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
- Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Diligent and firm with high ethical standards
- BS/BA in human resources, business administration or relevant field; MSc/MA in human resources will be a plus
Physical Requirements
- Able to work 3 days per week in our Princeton, NJ office
