You can look at March 15th one of two ways. If you're a glass half empty kind of person, then today you are saying "Beware the Ides of March". We hope you're not that person.
The other way is half glass full, which means today you're saying "Happy World Social Work Day"! Social Work Month has been celebrated since 1963, and March 15th we raise awareness of the incredible work social workers do and the problems they are trying to help find a solution to.
This year's theme is "Promoting the Dignity and Worth of the Peoples".The theme comes from The Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development (available here to glance at), and lasts for two years, this being the second year of this particular theme. There are events happening all over the world being hosted by the International Federation of Social Workers, from New York to Geneva to Vienna to Portugal to everywhere in between.
Springer Publishing is proud to publish so many excellent and varied titles in the topic of social work. Make sure you visit our website and check out all of our titles in the field. There's something for everyone, and there is always something new and exciting on the horizon.
So today, be a half glass full person, and celebrate Social Work Day, and the rest of the month as well. If there's someone in your life who is a social worker in some capacity, don't forget to thank them. And if you yourself are one, then we're the ones thanking you.
