Springer Publishing Company and sister companies Demos Medical and Demos Health recently exhibited at the 2012 Frankfurt Bookfair. Approximately 7,000 exhibitors, 300,000 visitors, and 10,000 journalists from around the world attended the 4-day conference (October 10th-October 14th) in Frankfurt, Germany.
“The Frankfurt Book Fair has always been an exciting event for Springer Publishing and Demos Medical Publishing – and this year was no exception,” says Publisher, Ted Nardin. “We had the opportunity to meet with dozens of international distributors and potential translation partners from around the world to present new titles and discuss numerous international distribution initiatives,” he says.
The Frankfurt Bookfair is the world’s largest and oldest trade bookfairs, dating back to the 15th century. The Frankfurt Bookfair isn’t just about exhibiting. The fair offers a variety of conferences and workshops for those interested in the latest trends and strategies facing the publishing industry. Each year, the Frankfurt Bookfair selects a country as the Guest of Honor. This year, New Zealand was chosen due to their record breaking rights sales.
Springer Publishing, Demos Medical and Demos Health attend the Frankfurt Bookfair as a way to interface with distributors and foreign publishers. They present their new and forthcoming titles, as well as have the opportunity to meet new accounts. Several months of preparation go into attending the fair.
