Today marks the 12th anniversary of September 11 and the tragic attacks that took nearly 3,000 loved ones. With the National September 11 Memorial & Museum near completion, a campaign is underway asking us to "take a day to remember the day that changed us forever."
The museum is scheduled to open in Spring 2014. It will be housed in the heart of the World Trade Center site and will include many monumental artifacts, powerful images, and oral histories to honor the lost and recognize the strength and resilience of the survivors.
Tonight at sunset, New Yorkers will see the return of the Tribute in Light, an installation of eighty-eight 7,000-watt xenon light bulbs located near the WTC site, which will illuminate the skyline and echo the shape of the Twin Towers.
Let us come together this 9/11 and take a day to honor, remember and reunite. For more information from the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, visit 911memorial.org.
