Overview:

Springer Publishing Company is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Inside Sales Representative to join our Higher Education Sales team. This position reports to the Higher Education Senior Sales Director. This individual will be responsible for selling new and incremental text book adoptions as well a calling college instructors and professors to follow-up on adoptions of our textbooks to discuss results. We are looking for a customer-focused individual with a results-driven spirit who can make an immediate contribution to strong revenue growth. Our Inside Sales Representatives provide an excellent customer experience while also engaging in sales behaviors such as closing new sales, cross- or up-selling. They build rapport with clients to identify their needs, confirm fit with our products, offer tailored advice about products or services, develop deeper relationships, and create opportunities to generate business by coming through for their prospects and customers. It will be critical to demonstrate a solid track record of building and managing an accurate pipeline, closing new business opportunities and growing revenue.

While experience in health-related publishing and the higher education industry is a plus, the ideal candidate will have solid inside sales and new business development experience and a proven track record providing excellent customer service to meet our client’s needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Revenue and Results & Elevate the Customer Experience
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted sales revenue goals.
  • Manage all aspects of opportunity follow up, opportunity identification, relationship building, closing sales, sample product delivery, pipeline reporting, forecasting and weekly sales reporting.
  • Provide consistent feedback regarding client needs to ensure that Springer’s services are delivering the measurable results required by our clients.
  • Build customer relationships and deliver solutions that meet the customers’ needs and create value.
  • Nurture and close new business leads, identify and pursue upselling opportunities.
  • Upon adoption of Springer Publishing’s textbooks, content and/or solutions work closely with the higher education sales team to ensure large opportunities are handled in an appropriate fashion.
  • Make recommendations for new products and new business models.
  • Develop and maintain awareness/understanding of market, products, competitors and trends.
  • Gather and share information on market issues and trends to develop effective sales strategies.

Qualifications and Competency Requirements:

  • Experience - 5+ years of successful inside sales experience.
  • Business Acumen demonstrated by making sound business decisions based on a solid understanding of Springer’s content and strategic objectives aligned with the objectives of clients and prospects.
  • Service Focus accomplished by placing a great emphasis on creating customer loyalty by ensuring the highest value of service is always provided and by delivering on commitments to the customer.
  • Influence and Persuasion using tactics to persuade prospects and clients to take a specific course of action and establishing credibility to sustain the respect of others.
  • Relationship Building and the ability to develop long-term professional relationships with others and excel at building and maintaining friendly interactions, establishing credibility, and building rapport with individuals or networks of contacts.
  • Professionalism demonstrated by meticulously adhering to values such as courtesy, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all dealings with peers, managers, customers, partners, members of the community, and other stakeholders.
  • Active Listening and the ability to enhance mutual understanding in communicating with others through genuine interest in the content and meaning of conversations.
  • Time Management which will support the ability to manage multiple responsibilities by being organized and keeping on top of important time-sensitive tasks.

Physical requirements

This position will be in our New York City office.

This position requires limited travel and the ability to drive and fly to destinations as required.
